NEW YORK, Aug 3 (Reuters Breakingviews) - The price of PayPal’s (PYPL.O) CEO hunt just grew by some $9 billion. An e-commerce boom during the pandemic lifted PayPal’s stock price to a record high of about $308 in mid-2021. PayPal fell short of the 22% operating margin forecast it told investors it would deliver in May, and it remains below its pre-pandemic 23% rate. The company’s shares were down 11% around midday New York time on Aug. 3. PayPal forecast adjusted profit per share for the current quarter to be in a range of $1.22 and $1.24, above analysts' estimates of $1.22. PayPal posted revenue of $7.3 billion in the second quarter, compared with $6.8 billion last year.

PayPal CFO Blake Jorgensen Steps Down
  + stars: | 2023-03-07 | by ( Sabela Ojea | ) www.wsj.com   time to read: +1 min
PayPal Holdings Inc. Chief Financial Officer Blake Jorgensen has stepped down after a few months in the role. Gabrielle Rabinovitch will remain as PayPal’s acting CFO, the company said Tuesday. Newsletter Sign-up WSJ | CFO Journal The Morning Ledger provides daily news and insights on corporate finance from the CFO Journal team. PREVIEWMr. Jorgensen, who took a medical leave of absence in September after being appointed PayPal’s CFO in August, will continue working with the digital payments giant as a senior adviser through Sept. 15, the company said. He joined PayPal to succeed John Rainey, who left the company to take the CFO role at Walmart Inc.
Macroeconomic pressures have begun to hurt American consumers, particularly those in the lower income bracket, but PayPal's customers continue to spend largely undeterred by decades-high inflation. Even so, the company's upbeat forecast comes alongside its previously announced commitment of lowering expenses in the backdrop of its key e-commerce segment feeling the pinch of a slowdown. Inflationary pressures have affected discretionary consumer spending and post-COVID spending patterns are still evolving," acting finance chief Gabrielle Rabinovitch said in a call with analysts. In a divergence from prior quarters, PayPal said it will not provide a forecast for full-year revenue growth. PayPal said it expects full-year adjusted profit of roughly $4.87 on a per share basis.
